Queenstown

Shotover_jet

So we check-in in a real camping. Let’s face it, we need water, we need to charge our camera and laptop…and we need a good shower!

We’ve always preferred to do camping in the wild, so organized camps are not our thing. But hey, we have to try it especially that it’s our first time with a campervan. So we got help from our neighbor in the parking. I wished the help came before getting ourselves wet and dirty and in need of a second shower…

It’s rainy and definitely not a good day for skydiving or hang-gliding as I had dreamed. We settled for the Shotover Jet experience. Jet boating is a concept invented by Kiwis. It’s a very fast boat running on very shallow waters, and capable of very spectacular spins. Did I say very fast? I get in first and Jeremie gets to stay with Noemie. The driver has a very heavy accent and I barely get the explanation so I figured I had to hang on when he looks at us. The ride is quite nice, and exciting passing very close to rocks in this narrow yet very beautiful river. It’s nothing like rafting. The tour lasts around 40 min. Jeremie had his turn as well while I stayed with Noemie. Quite an interesting experience for him as 2 American girls sitting behind him screamed non-stop during the whole ride…

This evening, Noemie crawled from the sofa as she was playing and fell on the floor. It’s her first fall. Congratulations dear!

Tips:

We have lunch at the Japanese stall in one of the food courts.

We stay at Top 10 Holiday parks, 38$ a night.
