Smiles

Life is not easy in Congo. But despite an acute poverty and lack of good future prospects, smiles are what you're likely to encounter, almost everywhere you go. So if you live in a wealthy western country, just don't forget that there are people way poorer...

Congo as we love it - Le Congo comme on l'aime

Here comes Noemie

Here comes Noemie. Our baby girl, born on March 11, at 7:56 PM. She weighs 2.98 kgs and measures 49.5 cms. Rita & baby are doing well.

Do you remember the hygiene promotion sessions? I have the chance to attend another one. This time, all children are outside the school, singing, dancing, mimicking hygiene related moves. Everybody seem to enjoy themselves. Especially as a muzungu is...

Smiling Boys

Here are two malnourished children I encountered in another nutrition centre. They followed me the whole time, holding my hand, looking at my veins, smiling and laughing. Just another week or so in this nutrition centre, and they'll be okay.

A Severely malnourished child

This child is about to be measured. She's so scared she urinated all over. This child is acutely malnourished. If not treated urgently, she may die. This Community Therapeutic Centre nutrition programme aims at curing her in 4 weeks maximum.
