We wake up at 5h10 to be able to catch the bus. Too bad, the driver does not show up on time and we have to catch up an emergency moto ride, only to know that the bus was delayed and that we could have slept a bit more. It’s a long ride to Phom Penh punctuated by endless stops to drop passengers, to fill up gas, buy fruits and snacks, and have lunch… We have dinner at a nice Japanese restaurant and walk our way back quietly to the hotel through the night market near the royal palace.

Sleep doesn’t come fast so we go out to get a taste of the night scene. We end up in ‘the Heart of Darkness’. This famous night club is crowded and popular with tourists and locals alike. It’s amazingly cheap with good cocktails from 2 to 3usd!! The atmosphere is nice and there’s a pool table.

The trip by bus from is 60,000r. The trip takes 10 hours from Ratanakiri to Phnom Penh

A ride by tuk tuk in Phnom Pen is 1 usd. It costs 0.5 usd per moto.

We have dinner at Orgami, a Japanese restaurant: good.

We stayed at Renakse. Rooms are at 40 to 50 usd breakfast included. Nice rooms with character but not much windows. Wonderful atmosphere overall, recommended.

Drinks at Heart of Darkness, the top club/bar in town are ridiculously cheap. 3 usd for a huge cocktail.
