There is a woman selling a lot of different pagnes (it’s a 6 yards piece of  traditional cloth that congolese women wear) in her shop. I want to inquire on the price, as I may wish to include this to the items we distribute to displaced people.

Jeremie: Good afternoon, how are you today?

The woman: I am fine thanks

Jeremie: How much is a pagne?

The woman: 6 dollars

Jeremie: mmh, and how much if I buy 10?

The woman: that would then be 5.8 dollars

Jeremie: mmh, and how much if I buy 100?

The woman: that would be 5.8 dollars

Jeremie: really? Even if I buy 100?

The woman: eeehh, we’ve suffered the ZERO TWO (0.2) already!

Jeremie: (starts smiling) aaah, I understand, but can’t you suffer a bit more?

The woman: aah, no, because we’ve already suffered the ZERO TWO

Jeremie: (smiling even more) well, I am really sorry to make you suffer

The woman (realising the joke and starting laughing) : ah ah ah, ok so do you want to buy finally?

Jeremie: well, thanks, I am gonna have a look around and see whether I can make people suffer a bit more!

Il y a une dame vendant des pagnes (de longues pièces de tissu) dans son magasin. Je veux m’enquérir du prix afin de voir si je peux ajouter ceci à ce qu’on distribue aux personnes déplacées pour qu’elles se fabriquent des vêtements.

Jérémie: Bonjour, ca va ?

La vendeuse : Ca va merci

Jérémie: Combien ça coûte vos pagnes ?

La vendeuse : 6 dollars

Jérémie: mmh, et combien si j’en achète 10 ?

La vendeuse : ce sera alors cinq point huit (5,8) dollars

Jérémie: mmh, et combine si j’en prends 100 ?

La vendeuse : ce sera alors cinq point huit dollars

Jérémie: ah bon? Même si j’en prends 100 ?

La vendeuse : eeehh, nous avons déjà souffert le ZERO DEUX (0,2) !

Jérémie: (commençant à sourire) aaah, je comprends, mais vous ne pouvez pas souffrir encore un peu ?

La vendeuse : aah, non, parce qu’on a souffert déjà le ZERO DEUX

Jérémie: (souriant de plus en plus) et bien je suis bien désolé de vous faire tant souffrir !

La vendeuse (réalisant la plaisanterie et commence à rire) : ah ah ah, oui, alors vous voulez acheter ?

Jérémie: mmmh, merci, mais je vais aller faire un tour et voir si je peux faire souffrir d’autres un peu plus !
